Horological Meandering

Digging out a Movado chronometer from 1926

Movado Ermeto Chronometer Travel watch/clock from 1926

This timepiece was a breakthrough of horological design when it first appeared in 1926. (This piece dates to c.1926-27 making it one of the first years of production). Designed to be carried in the purse or pocket the casing slides shut to protect the face and movement and when opened a patent rack winding system provides enough power to run the piece for up to 24 hours. This piece is 100% original and in superb working order.  The outer case is green, pebbled leather with sterling silver (.935) trim and the dial is radium.

The back of the case simply has the serial numbers 1197175 and about 10 more hallmarks through out the watch. The chronometer movement is a very fine quality 15-Jewel straight line lever escapement, bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet balance spring, with 4 adjustments and again fully signed for Movado.

The case measures approx. 71mm diameter when fully opened and 47mm when closed. It is 32.5mm high and 13.5mm deep.

Best,
Larry
