FEARS ARNOS

Fears was in business in Bristol, England from 1846-1976 (quartz crisis?). The brand was renewed in 2016 by a relative of the original company founders. They have kept the business in its original city, and I believe is one of the companies involved in the movement to revive British watchmaking among others.

Unlike their cushion shaped models, the Arnos is the first rectangular model in a line I think they plan on expanding, and is based on the model pictured below which is from around 1930. You can see the new model is not an exact copy of the original but similar in design and style.

The new model is 20x40mm including lugs. I don’t know how thick it is but I’m guessing about 10mm. The case back is curved to match the crystal. It is a small watch but fits my wrist nicely. It’s very comfortable, and comes with 2 straps. The one I am wearing is a blue rubber Delugs strap with a double folding clasp that was made specifically for the watch.

Original model.

As the only shaped case in my collection right now I’m quite happy with it.
