Horological Meandering

A Trio of Modern Sports Chronos

It took me a long time to be able to compose these photos although I had been dreaming of doing so for years. I only wish that my photographic "skills" were up to the job.

One each from Jaeger LeCoultre, Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin.

These three chronographs were launched successively in 2006, 2007 and 2008 -- for me, a personal golden age in modern sports chronograph design and right around the time when I first became seriously interested in mechanical watches.  Each of them is a limited edition from one of the respective brand's major lines. None of the three brands really makes anything quite like these three examples anymore. The Offshores are, perhaps, tamer these days. The Overseas has been redesigned in the current third generation, one could argue for better or for worse. The AMVOX line is, sadly, no more.

All three fall within the 42-44mm case size, although perhaps surprisingly the AMVOX is the largest at 44mm.  I suppose it is obvious I really am drawn to the silver/white/black palette always with at least a touch of red thrown in. :-D

The Survivor and the AMVOX Black Concept have the most in common, both serving as "concept" watches. I could say a lot about these two, but I will save that for a future post. It is a thrill now to live with and experience both of these. Each one reflects all that I admire and respect about the two brands.

The rarest among the trio is also my near-daily companion, and has been for years now, but the other two are no less a joy to wear.

Thank you for looking and for your indulgence.

All the best,

respo
