Harry Winston

The Harry Winston Opus 1 Chronomètre à Résonance (by F.P. Journe)

Harry Winston Opus 1 is the inaugural piece of the Opus project, launched in 2001 under Max Büsser’s direction at Harry Winston Rare Timepieces.

It was created in collaboration with F.P. Journe, making it the first major public partnership between a large maison and an independent watchmaker

In total, 18 examples were manufactured, divided into three series of 6 unique pieces, each series focusing on a complication corresponding to one of Journe's emblematic calibers of the time:

  • Opus 1 Chronomètre à Résonance: the models shown here, with case numbers ranging from 004528 to 004533.
  • Opus 1 Réserve de Marche
  • Opus 1 Tourbillon Remontoir d’Égalité

Above and below is what I consider to be the most appealing of the five Opus 1 Chronomètre à Résonance that I have been able to identify.

CASE NUMBER 004530

The case is made of platinum. It measures 38 x 10.3 x 51.1 mm.

Now, for the sake of completeness, here are the other four pieces I have been able to identify.

CASE NUMBER 004531

I have unfortunately been unable to find photos of this piece unique. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Aesthetically, these watches are a bit baroque, but I personally find this blend of Journe's horological excellence with Harry Winston's aesthetic quite interesting.

Models 004530 and 004532 are by far my favorites, as they are the most understated.

What do you think?

And, of course, if any of you have photos of model 004531, please share them with us!

Thanks for reading.

Best, Emmanuel
