The thickness is definitely something to consider.
I do have a couple of watches that are even thicker, and they all limit the kind of sleeves I can wear with them. In the case (bad pun) of the Cosmopolite, it’s not entirely clear to me that the 8mm thick caliber 89-02 necessitates all that girth, but then I’m no watchmaker.
Bigger can sometimes still be better.
