Vintage Girard Perregaux Delight: The incredible diversity of the Deep Divers.
I will start a series of posts about vintage Girard Perregaux, and, for my first thread, two very different Deep Divers.
An early one, small, sober, classic, ref 7897:
Another one, very close, with a difference, though: Deep Diver is written in two lines, instead of one:
Some what, 10, 15 years after, the Ref 9108 FA, big, thick, funky, colorful, sometimes. Sign of the times, of the tastes, which change.
And I don't even dare mentioning the many other diving watches from GP which were in between!

I like the days when divers have their own unique characters.
Sporty or elegant, colorful or monochromatic, roundish or squarish. Good old days. Well, those were the days before I was born. : )
Well, each of them are representative of their time.
From the end Fifties and ealry 60ies, quite sensual, to the Explosive 70ies... Just exuberant, mad, and funky. Very interesting, indeed. Best, Luis. Nicolas

Once I have got all my 7897 back from the Manufacture I will make a group shot. There are even more dial versions than these two... You might say that it is even possible to make a theme collection of only the 7897! Best Blomman
