Stefano Macaluso visits Melbourne to celebrate the 220th Anniversary
Melbourne horology enthusiasts had the pleasure of meeting Stefano Macaluso, President of Girard-Perregaux, Sylvain van Muylders and the Australian Girard-Perregaux team on Tuesday night. It was an evening of sharing good food, wine and watches. We also had the privilege of tasting some Hennessy Cognac, including the flagship Richard Hennessy, which appropriately contains components in the blend that are over 200 years old.
Several museum pieces spanning most of the 19th century – a very fertile period with Constant Girard producing iconic pieces that continue to be an inspiration for the company – were on display, as was the modern reproduction of the Three Gold Bridges pocket watch and the wrist versions of that iconic piece.
Stefano spoke very enthusiastically about the company, emphasising its' history and design philosophy, but also focusing on the future with many new ideas and innovations being developed.

Stefano addresses the guests ...
Several watches from the GP museum were on display:

And the Three Gold Bridges Tourbillon pocket watch. The factory will make these to order at a rate of approximately one per year! Personalisation is available to your taste ...
And the wristwatch version, this example in the Vintage 1945 case. One lucky guest went home with this limited edition (50 pieces in RG) on his wrist ... just beautiful ...
And a single bridge tourbillon ...
Displays to browse ...
The John Harrison enamel dialed ww.tc. What a nice homage to world time watches from the father of modern chronometry ...
But what really caught my eye, in the 1966 case, were these classic enamel-dialled dress watches. Lovely numerals and perfect subseconds ...
The ww.tc shopping watch. Playful ... and impressive at 41mm on Michelle's wrist who was sitting next to me ...
More 1945 classic elegance ...
The 1966 Full Calendar at 40mm, with and without adornments ...
And the very masculine Vintage 1945 XXL Chronograph with black dial. Very comfortable on the wrist with the curved case back ...
Hennessy Cognac flight ...
And the beautiful Baccarat crystal decanter that comes complementary with the Richard Hennessy Cognac!
And lets not forget the wonderful meal at Pearl ...
Seared Harvey Bay scallops with XO sauce ...
Seared yellow fin tuna sashimi on a bed of salad ...
My thanks to Australian Girard-Perregaux team and the staff of Monards, and of course Stefano and Sylvain for a special evening.
