Hello,
wow, you really dug out an old post. For a moment I thought Nilo just bought a new GP, well, perhaps now that you reminded him...
So a couple of clarifications as this has been asked a few times before.
Ref 4946, also called the Vintage 1999 Chronograph first appeared on the Year 2000 Catalogue. In that catalogue, it was shown with still the ETA-based 2280 movement. You need to know that the Year 2000 catalogue had a number of differences with what was actually produced. I suspect, the catalogue was printed and after they made some changes to the collection.
In fact, Ref 4946 eventually came in two versions, both steel, one with cream dial, golden numbers and hands and one with black dial and silver numbers and hands 38mm case and see-through case back with the inhouse GP caliber 3xxx.
In the same catalogue, the Pour Ferrari F399, Ref 4945 was introduced. Same case as 4946. Interestingly, in the catalogue, 4945 was only shown in precious metal, yellow, pink and white gold. I have never seem any of those in real or photos and I strongly suspect they do not exist. Instead, the F399, Ref 4945 that has been produced was a steel case, black dial and golden numerals/hands with solid case back and Caliber 2280 (ETA modified)
I don't know the production numbers but both 4946 and 4945 are quite rare.
Now, there is another one that falls into that line, which is Ref 4930, also called the Vintage 1996 Chronograph. Essentially this was the first one and appears in the 1998 Catalogue. It has the same case design and dial design but in 36mm. Ref 4930 was only produced in precious metal, yellow, pink and white gold and also had the inhouse caliber 3170 and a see-through case-back.
Hope that helps.
