Service experience: EQUATION ESPACE PERPETUELLE Ref. 4832

Originally I intended only to show you some pictures of this Ref. 4832 coming back from service (through AD and TRADEMA Germany ) in La-Chaux-de-Fonds, as recommended by you, Peter (thanks). It has been an ordinary service (including change of the dial, which had shown some patina), since it stems from the second half of the eighties:

I love those watches and their movements (!!!) very much and wanted to give this one the best treatment available, but I’ve to keep on hoping it has been so. I handed the watch over to the AD end of June and had a phone call around mid/end of August telling me the costs (about 1300 US-$)and the schedule for the revision (until end of November/beginning of December 2007). But I had to wait until today to get the watch back, obviously in working condition, but e.g. not adjusted to the actual date and moon phase. We’ll see whether at least the perpetual calendar is working properly.

Together with the replaced dial came a replaced crown, but not the one from this watch but one of those crowns with 6 edges known from e.g. equation terre Ref. 4842 or some early laureato-like variants, they seem to have mixed dirtbags there in Switzerland .

And finally my AD handed the watch over to me in a simple plastic bag with no other documentation of the revision than his handwritten receive and I had to ask for. This is “Girard Perregaux today”? Not good to know that it will be difficult to find someone familiar with those watches, but if there are none in La-Chaux-de-Fonds and with ADs either?).

By the way, there have been very late sold outs of EQUATION models by e.g. TRADEMA Italy through at least 2002 like this ref. 4830, a “simple” equation espace (and not only 20 years ago!):

If you think anyone in Munich or La Chaux de Fonds cares about and is going to improve things, let me know, otherwise this is for your kind attention only and GP watches might in the future for such eperiences remain for the few! Sure, there are things in life that are important compared to such! But notwithstanding: Where have all those fantastic “chronométriers responsables” gone?

Greetings to all GP Fans, Alex

The overall of the dial is beautiful...just the date, a 'bit' messy The rest is all beautiful...pretty moonphase too Does the second hand jumps like dead second or continuosly like automatic? Regards

Thanks, Jacky, indeed it's a "death seconds" mvt., and so to say a typical quartz watch, and the moonphase is a beauty. But you're right, the date indication is pain in the eyes. Therefore looking for the right date, i used to look at this one, an "equati...
