New Arrival - Chronometer Richeville

I was helping a fellow collector locate an affordable GP Gyromatic on that (in)famous auction site when this picture popped up on my screen:

Having previously read Blomman's posts on this particular model, I got my sniper ready and loaded it up with what turned out to be the winning bid.  It was a bit of a gamble, as there was no movement picture at all.

After a few days wait, this is what came out of the box:

Turns out to be a Ref. 8444A, not sure what the "A" stands for.

Movement looks to be a cal. 31.19, which seems to be the second of the two iterations of this case style.  The serial number seems to be the same as on Blomman's example.  As I understand it, these are not true serial numbers anyway.  More like production run information on the movement.  But it has the separate number for chronometer identification.

I've not seen another with this exact configuration of gold-plated case, pie-pan (no date) dial and chronometer rated movement.  Then again, the sample size on these is very small and almost all centered on this forum.

Maybe it's time for another roll call on these?

Take care.  Until next time!

the Richeville pie pan dial in gold is one of my favourite vintage GPs, so much class. Congratulations for finding this one.

Richeville Chronometer.... that's next level ;)
