Girard Perregaux

I still need to take a photo of mine, but...

...both of the photos below belong to PeterCDE and show watches in his collection.  The original post is here on PuristsPro, but as I recall, all three are 18K gold monocoque cases, 34mm, sold in the USA.  The left watch is a clear redial, and a poor one at that, which Peter pointed out.

The middle and right watches are considered original dials, but notice the differences in the font size of "GIRARD-PERREGAUX".  The applied indices are also different between the watches, and while the middle example reads "SWISS" at the bottom, the right watch reads (unclearly) "SWISS T".  It does not appear to me that there is tritium on any of the three.

Calvong's watch (and mine, for that matter) mostly closely resemble the rightmost below, with the gold/black 6, 9, 12, and the heavier weight "G-P".  It is remarkable to me that this run of Observatory Chronometers which numbered in total no more than about 670, of which these are a small subset of US-market watches, would have at least two similar but distinct dial variations in the same case.

The only thing I can think of is that the middle and right watches represent different model years.  Again, someone like Peter would have to weigh in, but is it possible that these two are from, say, 1966 and 1967?

As always, I enjoy the discussion, Tony.

regards, Tom
