G-P ref: 7317

Well done Blomman!   I thought you would have owned one or more of this reference for a long time.   The case is superb because of its faceting from the integral lugs through the sides.   The case just looks right.   And the blue date is a welcome G-P quirk.   Your 7317 is in great condition, especially the dial.

Best

Clive

Friends, Time for me to show my last catch of 2016: The Girard-Perregaux Gyromatic 39 Jewels, reference 7317. To me this is the original Gyromatic 39 Jewels. The one used in all commercials from that time as “The first selfwinding watch with 39 Jewels and...

Wonderful watch!

Another I would very gladly get but examples at the quality level of yours are few and far between... As for the date, too bad it is not a large date - maybe then you could engineer the 39 Was the movement reused in other references later? I guess the jew...

I have a MIMO which can...! :)

The Large Date is operated by the pusher in the centre of the crown. But it will not adjust depending on month, so some strange combinations are possible / 39 included! As for the Gyromatic 39 Jewels - there were a lot of them... Working on a ref list, bu...

In fact I do have one or two since before, but in bad conditions... I find the lugs are just superb on the 7317 and the blue date wheel - is such a cool touch! Best Blomman

Congratulations, my friend

You know that to complete a watch, you not only need the correct buckle - ads, catalogue, watch stand, box, papers.... The list is endless! Welcome to the GP standard! Best Blomman

Damn it, you are creating more work for me.

Not to mention the time and expense. But nothing a few grappas won't cure.

The differance between vintage and modern watches....

Modern watches - you need to work to get the funds to get. Vintage watches - the real work starts once you has bought it! Best Blomman PS. Yes, Grappa helps in both cases...!

Very good summary.

So, I should stay away from vintage.

Your loss....

By: blomman Mr Blue : January 14th, 2017-01:52
Two worlds - double the fun! Best Blomman

But also, double the work.

First work to buy the watch (not to mention finding it), then work on buckles, straps, stands, averts, etc... I already work too much. My family life would suffer.

Hm... That we can't have...

Family first! Only modern GP for you, my friend! Best Blomman

In your fourth shot I really love this French sentence in the ad: "la nouvelle Girard-Perregaux vit de vos moindres gestes" (something I could translate by: "the new GP lives thanks to your all little gestures"). You\'re definitely a Master! Best wishes A...

Thank you for the translation!

By: blomman Mr Blue : January 12th, 2017-12:04
That is very true - even more so in France, I guess...! Best Blomman PS. Here in Sweden we do not speak as much with our hands as in France!

LOL :-)
