Journe Style Classic? or Not?
Its been dead in here so this is just some thoughts on some conversations I've had recently....
With all the conversation about large cases vs. small....brands straying from their roots etc...How do people feel today about Journe watches?
Anyone here used to not like them, think they were/are a fad...but over the past 2 to 3 years, as the brand has grown, have found an appreciation for the 'breath of fresh air' Journe has brought to the marketplace. Of course, this is my view, I have really grown to love the style of these watches.
Do people think this 'look', colored dials, off center subdials, metal chapter rings, screws....the overall technical/artsy appeal of Journe will last the test of time?
Do any of my fellow purists feel that in say 20, maybe 50 years from now, Journe will be regarded as an innovator, a revolutionary?
Or...will the brand be just one of those early 2000's brands who came and went.....
Last note...does the release of the Chronometer Souverain demonstrate that Classic is key? Its a beautiful watch, but did Journe 'tone it down' for a reason? Granted, the movement is all about aggressive and advanced design-the heart of chronometry...but the face is rather un-Journe IMO.
Just a ramble to get some life in here...Any thoughts?
