white gold longevity question....
Hi all,
I have a question concerning the longevity of the cosmetic appearance of white gold...
I have recently purchased a white gold vintage piece and although the finish is fine at the moment I am a little concerned that the finish will wear off with use.
My initial feeling is that if it has survived 40+ years of use without wearing through then it will probably be fine...however my girlfriend used to have a white gold ring and she managed to wear all the plating off of that!!
I realise that not all white gold cases are rhodium plated, is there a way to tell if a case is plated or not?
Anyone here have any experience of the plating wearing through in normal use?
