Horological Meandering

Acquired this piece here and wonder what you think where the start is to see a piece as a meaningful mechanical watch? I do not want to say important, just a meaningful. To me this Edo, originally invented by Dubey & Schaldenbrand and fitted first into Ed...

I've seen these kind of rattrapantes before but I never really figured them out. Does the spring reliably reset the rattrapante hands so they perfectly align on top of each other? I just can't imagine it... I like the little detail of the 3,6,9 telephone ... 

You start the chrono with the pusher at two, both hands run. You press and hold (!) the pusher in the crown and the lower hand runs further with the top one stopped. You release the pusher in the crown and both catch up as if they have never been separate...  

I'm surprised such a long coiled spiral "hairspring" like that would result in precise alignment at rest. Also, I'm assuming you can't "hold" the crown pusher too long otherwise the spring gets wound too much? The more I look at it now, the more beautiful... 

........... the movement to stop! I have not tried it so far: we know each other just two days and you do not ask such thing so early ! But seriously: I am quite happy myself about this piece and value it a lot, regardless the plated case.

It was my first true mechanical watch and, of course, one which is very dear to my heart. I loved watches previously to this gift but this one really increased my passion for beautiful timepieces. Here a shot Best wishes Alkiro ...
