Ulysse Nardin

Vintage Ulysse Nardin addition

As promised on the Omega Tuesday forum, I share this watch with you.   This week just acquired this 1950's U-N with apparently original dial, hands, signed crown and signed Geneva striped, manual-wind movement in great working order.   Fairly even freckled dial patina, thankfully not refinished.   Radiation from lumen shows nothing above background radiation, so either not radium or some other exciter, long extinguished.   Lots of servicing marks inside the screw case-back.

Movement recently serviced and now keeping "on the wrist" time between +1 to+2 secs/day but surprisingly missing the case-back gasket, now expected for fitting tomorrow.   Very good amplitude at all six positions.   The dial indexes are all incised into the dial disc like cut glass wheel engraving instead of applied/riveted.   I have not seen that on any watch before.   I have emailed the manufacturer for some information.   No date and nothing but the maker's name on the dial plus "Swiss made" as expected makes this a very understated, quality, vintage watch, which is a delight to wear.   Good size for my slim wrists at 34mm diameter and wears slim at 9.22mm depth.

There is a number 5640 on the case-back.   Is this the model reference?   There is a 714xxx number also on the case and the serial number on the movement is 5523xxx.

Best

Clive
