Throwback Thursday – 1955: Jaeger-LeCoultre Genève

Soon the SIHH rush starts, but before that we have time for one more Throwback Thursday!

Just before Christmas one of our vintage experts here rightfully pointed out that in the 1970s Jaeger-LeCoultre used to print Genève in some of their documents.

But this is not the only time in history JLC did that.

Also in the mid 1950s Genève was used.

Service booklet, 1955:

But inside the booklet, the Grand Maison in Vallee de Joux Le Sentier is shown.

Interesting to see a map of all their AD/Service points at this time.

Back then, two AD’s in Stockholm Sweden.

A/B Nordiska Kompaniet still has JLC in their store!

Big selling watches back in 1955, the Powermatic…

The Futurematic…

And of course the Memovox!

The Futurematic is since long discontinued, but the Memovox still in the JLC base collection.

So is the Powermatic, but it changed its appearance and name to Reserve de Marche…

Before the Powermatic (unless I remember wrong) the Futurematic existed in the JLC collection. But also outside JLC there were watches showing this function before the Powermatic. I have some old documentations about this, will see what I can dig up... Be...

As you know in the 1950s, Automatic watches started to become the fashion and with the power reserve complication became handy! Best Blomman

So maybe it's time to start hunting a nice Powermatic down. I have seen enough Powermatics for sale - but to find a nice one. Well that's a bit more of a challenge. Though RDM has its appeal too - but for this instance think I'd prefer to go vintage. Chee...

Hi Yup having a Memovox & Futurematic pretty good going, but having the triumpherant would be better, this is ThePurist site after all Yeah a nice steel European version is a good target, bit larger & feel a bit more contemporary despite the age & vintage...
