The Mille Miglia 2013 Editions

Year 2013 Chopard Mille Miglia, comes in two versions - limited 2,013 pieces for the steel model which typically commemorate the year of the Mille Miglia Race while the rose gold version, which is limited to 250 pieces, is for those who prefer a more luxurious feel.

As per previous 2012 edition, the functions featured 24-hour dual-time and 12-hour chronograph.  A smart change of the dial and bezel layout was re-designed, which is logical, greatly enhance readability by swapping the tachometer scale and 24-hour indexes.

2012 Mille Miglia Edition

Some snapshots for a quick overview ...  there are small details being added.

The case-band diameter is at a smaller 42.8mm while the bezel is sized larger at 44mm.   The lugs were shortened and has a sharper drop-angle, so that the watch could even embrace a smaller wrists more snugly.  A good effort in balancing for improved wearability (especially for small wrists) and yet retain the imposing presence of the large watch.

Case-work is still top-notch with alternate-polishing - a combination of light-brushed surface and satin surface.

For  legibility and greater contrast, the red chrono-second-hand is tipped with white-paint.

Hour (including 24 hr)  and minute hands and hour-indexes were coated with Super-Luminova for low-light reading.

The minute-rehaut  ring, is remarkable piece of work to demonstrate precision.  The black and red rings are two separate components.

Note the accurate stacking of the rings on top of another, all bold interval 5-units printed marks coincide with
each other !

30-minute totalizer at 12H, running small-second at 9H and hour-totalizer at 6H.

A small little detail in the middle of  the sub-dials island, 'wrinkle powder coating' finish.

Tachometer scale is now larger on the bezel instead cramping either on the dial or the rehaut-ring.
Indeed easier and quicker to read out.

Pushers were mushroom-shaped with knurled grid pattern.  Crown is different, previously signed with "1000 Miglia Arrow", now is signed with a vintage steering wheel.  Perhaps trying to avoid duplication of the Mille Miglia Arrow which also appeared on the dial around the date-window.

Solid caseback with the "1000 Miglia" logo and engraved serial number out of the total pack of 2,013 pieces.

Within is an automatic movement beating at 28,800 VPH with a power reserve of 46 hours.
Very likely to be a robust Valjoux 7754.

Case, water resistant rating is rated to 100m.

The watch is matched with the iconic 1960s Dunlop racing-tyre tread motif integrated-rubber-strap with deployant  buckle.

Several shots of the limited 250 pieces Rose Gold Edition.

Perhaps the coated  white tip (on the red chrono-hand) should stop just above the circumference of the subdials.

All in all, the layout is much cleaner for this 2013 editions.  For those who do not prefer the large engraved '12' & '6' hour markings on the sapphire crystal, this less busy dial-out may be for you.
