Seiko

Sunday's Seldom Seen Seikos

Hello Gents and Ladies,

Given the billions of Seiko watches produced in the last 136 years, it seems to me this morning that we all might have a Seiko or two in the house that we don't pull out very often. A watch that's too old, or funky in design, or with a dead battery, etc. Let's see if in the next week each of us Seiko fans can find one or two watches, and we will have a Show & Tell next Sunday. They don't have to be on your wrist - a static shot is fine too, and please do a bit of research first so you can tell us the model number and a bit of context for the watch. I'll give the signal to start.

Here's a sample profile of two of my watches, to start. I chose these because they look like a pair.

Both have the same diameter titanium cases, same bracelet and bezel, rounded corner date windows, round lume markers for the hours, bluish-purple dials, grreat lume, 200M water resistance and SCUBA on the dial.

What they don't have in common is the shape of the hands, the movements, the power source, the date location and the functions.

SBDQ003 on the left and SBDN003 on the right.

Do you like this style of watch? Could you imagine one or both becoming part of your collection? Someone must like them because Seiko has reissued newer versions which have an X on the dial.

More info on these watches can be found in THIS FASCINATING POST  from a few years ago.

Cheers,

Cazalea
