Glashütte Original

Sorry about missing an installment yesterday, folks . . .

. . . so let's pick up in a new thread with the penultimate 2009 model in this series, the Senator Meißen tourbillon . . .

. . . which caught MTF's attention earlier this year; I seem to recall this model generating mixed opinions, so I held off forming one until getting a chance to view it in the metal. The limpid beauty of the manually painted ceramic dial is interrupted by the cut-out necessary to reveal the tourbillon . . . some liked the effect, while others were disturbed by the confluence of two distinctly different aesthetic approaches. I feel that the movement is intriguing enough on it's own merits . . .

. . . that an unencumbered dial, with the description of "Tourbillon" painted above the VI, would have been at least as equally a valid solution. The classicism inherent with Meißen ceramics would have imparted just as compelling an appearance without a visible tourbillon as with, in my humble opinion. Having pointed out the obvious, this watch offers a melding of aesthetic opulence combined with overt technical refinement that will find an audience amongst those who are as comfortable with the one as they are with the other . . . cordially, Art This message has been edited by Dr No on 2009-05-31 14:51:59 This message has been edited by Dr No on 2009-06-09 09:12:50
