Some new content...
I've been so busy at work these past 3-4 months I haven't been able to post here as much. A project I've been working on for a year went live at the end of January. I still try to browse PPro at least once a day though.
The watch hobby has also suffered along with the absence in attendance here, but I did manage to buy myself a birthday present a couple of weeks ago. This is my 2nd purchase of the year with my first purchase not scheduled for delivery until next month. Hopefully more on that in March.
The watch I bought myself is the Eterna Czech military reissue and I'm enjoying wearing it.
While a no-date dial would have been preferred (of course!), at least the date window above the 6 o'clock is inconspicuous enough in real life conditions (the date text is gilt so it is not highly visible, but is there when you need it). At 40 mm Ø it is 2 mm larger than the original vintage model, but still quite svelte due to the curved lugs and very thin mid-case. The highly domed crystal is sapphire. Case-back is solid and it has a 50 m WR. The rectangular cushion case style is really cool and shares its basic contours with the other two watches used by the Czech military in the WW2 era, the Longines and Lemania. So this is kind of a signature for Czech mil-watches of the period.
I didn't buy a vintage original because of a couple of reasons:
1. I'm holding out for a great condition example with all the details I want
2. I'm unsure if I want to buy a watch with a hot radium dial (yes, the originals used radium for the dial and hands)
This reissue ticks almost all the boxes for me for now.
