Simple distraction, nothing more
Home from the holidays, sorting things out, doing the wash, etc. and I thought I'd better go to the safe deposit box and bring out some old friends.
Look what I found - the four Fifties gold musketeers.
First a Wittnauer - a bit sporty on ostrich strap with luminous hands. This belonged to a friend and he just handed it to me one day and said "Here. I'm tired of this."
Then my Grandpa's Omega bumper wind automatic Omega with high-dome crystal. He wore it for about 20 years, but I've had it at least 35 years.
The hands aren't original; they got changed a decade ago during a service. But are apparently from the same era.
My Patek - about 50 years old, I think. New to me last year. On the wrist it looks better than this shot does.
My pal's Patek - he got this new when he was married, 57 years ago. He wears it almost every day. A little rough on one outer edge of the dial - otherwise a beauty!
A look under the hood - I can just hear the Patek boys back after the war, sitting around the canteen saying,
"
The trend is towards bigger watches - let's make a spacer and we can push this baby out to, say, 36 mm!" followed by "
No - are you kidding? Who'd wear a watch that large?"

Now the obligatory club sandwich
Crowns
And the wrist shot:
Simple distractions can be quite enjoyable.
