Many of you may know Richard Paige as one of the two founders and original owners of TimeZone. He also is a talented watchmaker and had been working on his own watch designs for about 20 years. A few years ago he relocated from California to Hawaii and began his own watch business. I remember reading about his upcoming designs two or three years ago but frankly forgot about them until reading a blog recently about his offerings. I was intrigued enough to visit his website and loved what I saw with one exception. Without telling you, I bet you can look at the watch I bought and the watches you initially see and you will immediately notice! In conversations with Richard since my purchase, he tells me customers tell him they even love it or hate it.
I am glad he now offers alternatives.
Without delaying any longer here it is:
This is a Wrocket with NOS 1905 17 Jewel original Elgin hunters case movement with original antique blued hands and original enamel dial. The case is a 44mm diameter, 14mm thick polished stainless steel with convex sapphire crystal front and diamond coated glass display back. Richard made 50 of this limited edition. The movement is an old pocket watch movement manufactured in 1905. It has a bimetallic balance wheel, gold jewel cups, gold timing screws and a fancy regulator. Richard updated and serviced this movement. It has an Italian leather strap with Rpage Logo on buckle and strap. I show the brown strap but it also came with a black one.
Let's look at the display back:
I will admit I have a soft spot for pocket watches owning and daily winding both of my grandfathers watches, a 1924 American Waltham and a 1904-1905 Hamilton. The engraving is just marvelous. Having owned it a few weeks now, I can document it keeps fabulous time. The only drawback (and this happens with both the Waltham and Hamilton) is the power reserve is only between 24 to 48 hours. Oh, the price was very modest for this watch also...visit his sight and I will leave with a few more photos.
