Requesting strap advice for RG Reverso

Dear All,

As some of you would have noticed a few posts down on this forum, I have a RG Reverso (chrono) coming my way. I am impatiently awaiting its arrival and I got the idea of soothing the pain by getting it a new strap.

I have two reasons for replacing the strap (beyond killing time smile) :

Firstly, the watch is preowned and I feel that leather straps become a personal thing over time.
  • Secondly, and here is where I request your advice: I wish to "dress down" from the original glossy black croc that originally comes with the watch.

When I, during my selection process, showed a picture of the watch to my family, one of the boys (11 yrs old) uttered "Not that one! That's a watch for old rich men!" I choose to believe that he is referring to my age (I'm 36) rather than my economy wink I actually had my own apprehentions over the very classy look of the watch but I just felt so impressed with the movement complexity and dial lay-outs that I went ahead with the purchase and decided to personalise the watch through a different strap.

I do not intend to put a NATO strap on this watch (do I sense sighs of relief amongst my fellow Purists?) - just something a little less shiny and dressy than polished black croc. I already have a few ideas and favourites, but I would like to hear your suggestions in terms of material, colour, stiching etc. that you feel would suit my new watch.

As for the practical details, I believe that the measurements should be 19mm at lugs tapering to 16mm. I personally feel that a strap for a GT Reverso should be flat or slightly padded, but is there any requirements regarding strap height at lugs?

Thanking in advance for your attention and looking forward to reading your outbursts of fantasy!

Nikolaj
