Question on Lange vs GO Marketing and Positioning

I'm sure many here are readers of the "Annual Wristwatch" Book. My question is: Why did the prices of GO watches drop so dramatically from the Wristwatch Annual 1999 to 2000.

I first bought WWA1999 and fell in love with GO watches. I noticed however that listed prices dropped by about 40% from this issue to the 2000 issue and has remained at the lower level eversince.

I have since acquired a 1845 Klassic Up & Down and am happy that I bought it at the lower prices but can't stop wondering why the prices were dropped so dramatically. Was it a repositioning/a new strategy by GO so that it won't compete head to head with Lange?

If so, then doesn't it raise the question of whether Lange are overpriced? (GO were too before the price drop??). Costs to produce and a profit margin ends somewhere and many firms with good reputation e.g. Lange must have some room to move for market positioning.

Any thoughts on this?
