My recent experience last week would indicate that Blancpain might be having quality control issues...
I had been dealing with an authorized dealer in Boston and decided to purchase the 20th Anniversary Moonphase. I had some bad experiences with my GO Senator Perpertual (returned for repair 5 in less than 2 years) and my sales rep suggested that I should be leary of Blancpain, since he had seen a disproportionate amount of problems with Blancpain this year (including a watch or two that were dead-out-of-the-box).
I followed my heart, the Moonphase "Sang to me" and I already had two Blancpains that ran beautifully. Sure enough, the evening after I had picked-up the watch it stopped, even after winding thoroughly and wearing it proudly on my wrist. I wound it once again (80-90 turns to be sure) and it did not run more than ~3 hours.
The watch has been returned to Blancpain for repair and I await for it's return. My dealer has done great job concerning service issues and expediting repairs, but I have become concerned with the reliability and quality of the brand after this experience.
Any thoughts? Anyone with both Blancpains and JLCs...I have been offer a full credit on the Moonphase and I now am contemplating whether to keep the 20th Anniversary Moonphase or perhaps get the JLC Master 8 Days (in PG)
Thanks,
Chris
