Patek PCC advice needed.

Hi. I’ve always been a fan of the Patek perpetual calendars. Back when the 5970 was around, it was a dream watch - 40mm perfect symmetry. But alas I was poor. Then came the 5270 and I tried it on years ago, and now I’m in a position to purchase one 5270j from a good local AD. I know it’s not an investment piece. My biggest question however is regarding size, and would appreciate peoples thoughts on the size change from 40 to 41mm. It is thinner however. I’m 6foot tall but have small hands and wrist 15cm 6.25in. On a side note, its interesting that I have a 42mm/14mm skydweller and a 44mm/14mm YM2, and yet the YM2 feels more balanced on my wrist and the SD a little too heavy. It must be a proportions thing how some watches wear. Your advice on whether I should just go for the 5270j would be appreciate. I’m just not hopeful that future versions of the PPC will go back to a smaller diameter. Thanks!!

but at 41mm it is too large for my wrist. The 5270R I loved for a long time due to the vintage patina on the dial. There is a difference between the 5970 and 5270 not just by one millimeter but also the lugs. I would definitely suggest that you try on a 5...

You absolutely have to try the watch on your own wrist and let it work! It is a big investment, and you should really enjoy your new acquisition. Wearing comfort is essential to be able to enjoy a watch for many years (decades). All the best for your jour...

Welcome to our forum. I'm entirely with Thomas (MTR) here, in that the best way is always to try a watch on your wrist if possible, especially one of this importance and/or for which you have concerns regarding wearability.

While we are glad to provide some theoretical advice here, nothing can replace the certainty you will feel (or not feel! ;-) after comfortably trying a watch on your wrist....Assuming a 5270J is not physically at your AD yet, if you show a serious interes...

Do try it on your wrist first which to me is a MUST !
