I noticed the same JLC models become popular here at PuristS, but I have too little insight to tell which is the most popular.
But the question makes me think about "Community watches". I do own one of them and I like the idea that a considerable part of the exclusive batch has found its way onto the wrists of PuristS.
On the other hand I do own watches that can be found maybe three times in the community and that is fine with me also.
And then there are watches like the Speedmaster Pro that probably can be found in hundrets among us. But still it is not perceived as a Community Watch. Maybe it is too common? The last thought makes me suspect that a community watch needs to be exclusive in some way. That does not necessarily mean expensive. The enthusiasm for the Longines Legend Diver was shared in the community even if there is an ETA movement inside and the watch is very affordable. But the watch is hard to find (especially the no date version) and not popular amongst "average" watch buyers.
The Speedmaster Pro or also the Rolex Submariner would probably qualify as "Community Watches" if they were a little more exclusive. But it seems to me that despite their numbers they may be regarded as a little too "pedestrian" here to be seen as Community Watches. Does this mean that there is a certain kind of snobism involved or is it just a different expression of the of striving for excellence that can be found in many PuristS? I think it is the latter. So much courtesy, sharing and openheartedness can be found here that it must be the latter.
I am happy to be allowed to take part in this great community and therefore I take pride in the words: Ich besitze eine Community Watch!
Have a great new year everybody,
Martin
