Independents

New supernova on the independent scene!

In Hamlet a famous line states that "something is rotten in Denmark". I can assure that, while this may be true, something quite extraordinary is about to surface.

As some of you might already have guessed, I am referring to Christian Lass and the first watch made by his hands in Denmark.

Christian has previously worked for Vianney Halter and as the head watchmaker for the Patek Philippe museum in Geneva for about a decade.

With the knowledge, skills and required tools at hand, Christian is now working as an independent watchmaker restoring, teaching and now focusing on finishing the first wristwatch bearing his name on the dial and movement.

He has done the designing, prototyping and building and finishing of most parts of the watch like main plate, bridges, pins, screws, new setting system, case, dial, hands, crown, buckle etc. All in his workshop.

Also the hairspring has been overcoiled and is free sprung. The adjustment for the hairspring is using a not seen before system inspired by Breguet, involving a ruby sphere as a pivot.

His wife Hanne is doing the free hand engraving and helping with the finishing still needed to be done. Still many hours of finishing ahead, but this looks very promising!

I encourage you to follow him and Hanne on Instagram: @christian_lass and @gravalance
