Carnegie Hall Welcomes Five Additional Breguet Clocks

New York, NY. February 8, 2013—Continuing the celebration of its designation as Carnegie Hall’s first-ever Exclusive Timepiece, Breguet has installed five additional specialty clocks throughout the premises of the building—four Classique clocks and one Reine de Naples. This partnership with Carnegie Hall further fosters the brand’s global commitment to the preservation of arts and culture around the world. Timekeeping and music have been linked throughout history and its marriage continues today.

The first Breguet clock installed at Carnegie Hall, located in the Morse Lobby of Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, was a Classique Tourbillon. It was unveiled prior to the start of the 2012-2013 season’s Opening Night Gala performance on October 3, 2012. It represented the first addition to Carnegie Hall’s lobby since the landmark building’s renovation in 1986.

“We are enormously thankful for our new partnership with Breguet,” said Clive Gillinson, Executive and Artistic Director of Carnegie Hall. “Carnegie Hall and Breguet share a unique bond based on our rich history of dedicated artists who ‘keep their eyes on the stars, and their feet on the ground’ if I can adapt a quote from Teddy Roosevelt,” said Gillinson.

The clocks at Carnegie Hall symbolize some of Breguet's most notable collections. The Classique collection features designs and complications known worldwide as the pinnacle of horological craft and achievements. Features such as guilloche dials, caseband fluting, the blue Breguet hands and the innovation of the tourbillon are all hallmarks of the brand’s prestige design. The Reine de Naples collections pays tribute to the Queen of Naples, Caroline Murat, sister of Napoleon Bonaparte, for whom the first wristwatch was invented by Breguet in 1812.

To mark the unveiling of all the Breguet clocks at Carnegie Hall, a private reception was hosted by Mr. Michael Nelson, Breguet US brand manager, and Mr. Clive Gillinson, Executive and Artistic Director of Carnegie Hall, on the evening of Thursday, February 07, 2013. Guests were treated to guided tours of Carnegie Hall by its docents who provided an inside perspective on this historic New York City establishment along with information about each Breguet clock on its premises. The evening closed with a concert performance by Pablo Heras-Casado leading the Orchestra of St. Luke’s.
