First of all, thanks to everybody who contributes to this fantastic forum. Alberto, Thomas, Lutz and many others do a great job. Within a short time, I learned a lot more about Breguet watches.
A few weeks ago, maybe my oldest dream came true. In Bern I bought a 2nd-hand Breguet 3130 (produced approx. in 1985, Nr. 1490)which is still in very good condition. I have seen this watch about 15 years ago in a shop in St. Moritz. It was "love at first sight", this watch and no other. As I have one or two other not so cheap hobbies, it took me a while until I could afford to buy this watch. It's also not so easy, to find a nice 2nd-hand 3130 in Switzerland.
Indeed it's a fantastic feeling to wear this "beauty". In my opinion, no new watch-design can match with this one. The guilloch?-work is extremely well done. Now sometimes I have a few troubles with my wife, as she thinks that I care more about my watch than about her ...
The first time I heard about A.L.Breguet was from my grandfather. He was a professor at the watchmakers technicum in Biel/Bienne. My grandpa was very much interested in A.L.Breguets watches/inventions, but he could never afford to buy a Breguet. Unfortunately my mother sold all his nice watchbooks from Chapuis, etc.
I hope that my English isn't too bad. Writing in German or French would be much easier for me ...
