Ming watch event at Rhombus in Bangsar Malaysia
When Ming Thein release in 2017, their founding year, their first watch, the 17.01 stunned the watch community with a new iconic, fresh design and value for money watch. Now they are touring around the world to present live the 17.03 GMT and the their new line 19.01. No better place in Malaysia to present for the first time the new models in the Rhombus condominium building in Bangsar, another showcase of contemporary design. For the 19 series, Ming Thein opted for a movement of Schwarz-Etienne and not just any movement but a great modular designed movement, a feast for the eye, that will allow them to add easily new complications, such as a micro-rotor automatic or GMT, or..... i have seen a few of their design sketches of future models and I’m very impressed of what is coming in the next years. Ming Thein, not only a great photographer, is also an inspirational designer with meticulous eye for detail and ergonomics, combined with passion for watches and watchmaking.
The whole setting of the presentation in Rhombus was very intimate, no big show, just a great opportunity to touch and play with the watches, talk to the founders and share ideas about design with Ming Thein. I can’t wait to put my 19.01 on my wrist.

The final 19.01 looks like the ones on the pictures, with slight differences on the dial gradient and the finishing on the movement. Ming Thein decided to have 4 prototypes made and combined all best elements in to the production watch
