I’ll eat my words, the 5711R is just drop dead gorgeous

Ask me what Nautilus would be on my wish list, I I would reply without hesitation a nautilus reference 5726.
Why? You may ask, for that it’s an easy answer I much prefer the complication of an annual calendar then the simple 5711.

When it comes to the simple time only watch for me there is only one that I would ever want, the original reference 3700.

This was the original and for me the one that can never be surpassed in its aesthetics, the quality of its movement, the construction of the case.
The reference 5726 Nautilus with its water resistance of 120m As well as full calendar and Moon-phase, and gorgeous blue dial it’s just something exceptional, within the Nautilus range.
However, one of my collector friends has just recently bought a rose gold Nautilus reference 5711, and I have to confess this has completely shook me.  The rose gold version is completely different to the steel. The brown dial lens itself beautifully to the rose gold case and bracelet. Put it quite simply, the rose gold is in my very humble opinion completely on a different level to the stainless steel version, even with the blue dial. It’s not with words that I can explain the lure and the lustre of the 5711R. So I will let a few pictures do the talking for me. Not since the original reference 3700, have I actually been taken this aback by a simple time only Nautilus. Finally I will give you a confession, I was offered a 5711 blue dial back in the day by the salon in London at retail of £11,000, and I turned it down, because genuinely it was not the watch for me. If I wore gold watches and this was offered to me I would bite their hand off for it.
