I can relate :)
Really like what Ford has done with it over the past generations. Now that it is officially available in Europe I am increasingly tempted. Would need to move back to car friendly Germany to make it sensible in terms of running costs though.
526 out of a 5.2l V8
The tamer 5.0 GT gets 435 out of a 5.0l. So not little either way And both now handle relatively well, too.
There are also other options
Namely a 2.3l turbo I4 and a 3.7l V6, both north of 300bhp, if the V8 is not a must for you. The I4 will be related to the on in the new Focus RS.
So much Hp for the money, so much adrenalin and fun at such an affordable price...

While they were somewhat of a one trick pony in the past...
They are now relatively well balanced, and as you said, for the price... No wonder cars like the 370Z are suffering. I know, not a Pony Car but with the current Stang simply inadequate value for money.
Nothing sounds more raw than America muscle car.
