... I was putting on my new Breitling SuperOcean Heritage and closing the solidly made folding clasp of the rubber strap, when I thought to hear a different "closing sound" from the clasp. When I tried to open it again, it won't move. Fine, handcuffed by my own watch ....
No means, not even brutal force would convince the clasp to open again, apparently a part has broken or bent inside. So I had to visit my watchmaker, and he removed the springbar from the lugs, releasing me into freedom. Since there is still warranty on the watch and strap, the latter was sent to Breitlling immediately. While this story has a certain comical aspect, I learnt from the dealer, that I have not been the first person to find himself in this weird situation. Apparently, there is a design problem with these clasps.
Now I placed myself on the safe side, by using a leather strap with simple, but reliable tang buckle.
