Girard Perregaux

Had an itch that needed scratching..............

Hello to all,

Spent a lovely afternoon at my watch dealers today. As a fan of GP''s, I felt that it was time that I gave my RG ww.tc some company. I had recently, over the last two weeks developed an attraction for the GP Vintage 1945 Big Date Moonphase, in RG.

I was very impressed with the quality, fit and finish of the case and dial, not to mention the in house caliber 3300. This is the same in house base caliber that is in my ww.tc, and could not be more pleased. The watch speaks to me from another era, that of a more simple time, of quiet understated elegance and character. It struck a chord with me and needless to say it accompanied me home.

The Red Gold is mesmerizing, set off against a silver/gray dial, with full Arabic's. The background of the moon phase is a lighter shade of blue than most, and creates a wonderful contrast between the case and dial.

Aesthetically is it is blessed with a wonderful symmetry, well balanced, and the extended lugs are a significant feature in defining this little treasure. It comes with many personalities from casual to dress. At 32 mm x 32 mm it plays much larger than the size might suggest, and due to the curve of the case it fits like a glove. Overall a wonderful design both aesthetically and ergonomically, with superb features to match.

I am sure that this watch will put a smile on my face each and every time I wear it, or even think about it for that matter, for many years to come. The following is a link to an earlier thread that shows my watch, but with a different dial. It is the first watch on the right with black dial, except that mine while sharing the same deep, dark, glistening red gold case as the one pictured, has the silver/graydial . click here for a recent discussion.

I want to thank all those who contribute to the forum, to make this a dynamic and wonderful place to visit and call home. My most sincere and heartfelt thanks to Peter, who is first and foremost a gentleman, who can never do enough to provide us with his guidance and wisdom. All in the hopes that we will leave a little wiser and happier than when we first arrived.

Again thank you all,

Best Regards,
