Greubel Balanciers
I have been seriously considering a Greubel recently and learned of a few in Chicago while visiting.. so I stopped by Sydel and Sydel as well as Geneva Seal and was able to check out a few. Both are great stores with fantastic service, and I’d recommend them to anyone that is nerdy about independents.
Now for the watches!
I thought the balancier 3 was kind of an underwhelming experience. It lacked the same insane depth that most greubels have. Of course, the finishing and quality was great, but I think it’s better to spring for the s2 or the double balancier.
If you compare the balancier3 to other watches in the same price range…I think it’s hard to justify the balancier3 versus something like a logical1 or Mb&f perp cal.
The double balanciers I tried were both amazing. Crazy depth in the movement and they wore VERY well. Thick? Yes, but not really a problem.
I don’t think there anything else available that has the same crazy depth, movement, interesting crystal, etc that you get with the double balancier.
The bracelet was very nice too btw, but I actually liked the rubber/textile strap a lot more.

In my opinion....
That first one is immaculate. With that particular combination of elements it manages to beautifully balance out (yes, I know, pun duly intended) an otherwise highly complex layout and overall design. Hugely appreciate your pictures, cheers, Filip

The simple strap also means there’s less overhang - so it hugs tight on the wrist.
The double balanciers are the finest double balance wristwatches ever made, bar none.
Did they tell you how much the bracelet costs? It's very funny!

I wish the dial was more textured with the super grainy frosting gruebel does sometimes. The gmt variant is like that.
The double on rubber would be my choice.
And it looks way better on the rubber than on the $40k bracelet.
Each of these is a grail.
I would choose the one that speaks to you the most and fills a void in your collection.

The thing that stopped me from the signature one is the “cretin” name on the dial which has a very uhh interesting French translation 😂
