Grand Seiko SBGW231
I love this reference, reminds of some mid-century Calatrava's, particularly now without the Seiko - Grand Seiko subdivision of logos on the dial, very clean, restrained design, superb finish and a tactile manual movement. My only reservation is it might be too austere? Already owning the SBGR289 I know the size works, but I would love to see some of that GS dial flair applied here, perhaps a grey or black starburst or Wako style Breguet numerals. I will be in Japan later this year where I hope to handle one in person, I might tell a different story. I would love to see a colour variant though.
Can any GS experts recall a manually wound reference without a ivory/cream/white dial?
