Girard-Perregaux 1966 Tourbillon

When the GP 1966 Tourbillon with Gold Bridge stares at you from a glass display case, why wouldn’t you ask to try it on?!

This is the pink gold version (Ref. 99535-52-131-BKBA) available in a limited run of 25 watches but there is also an ultra scarce white gold version (Ref. 99535-53-131-BK6A) in an edition of 5 pieces.

The classic 1966 case measures 40mm in diameter.

The single gold bridge supporting the 60 second tourbillon is finished by hand in a rounded shape called a bassine. The escapement and pallet bridges are also hand finished. The dial itself is silvered with a sunburst finish. The simple indices and traditional leaf shaped hands complete a classically beautiful watch.

The movement is the GP 09600-0014 which beats at 21,600vph (3Hz) and has a power reserve of 48 hours. The watch is completed with a brown crocodile strap and a simple pin buckle.

Not too big, not too small, not too flashy, just perfect.
