De Bethune at the SIHH 2016 Carré des Horlogers
New for the SIHH 2016, De Bethune presented the DB25 World Traveler and the Dream Watch 5 Meteorite.
The DB25 World Traveler is a two timezone watch, the "home" zone shown with a 24 hour dial track by a two sided blue/gold sphere that also indicates day and night. The "local" time is shown by the normal blued hands. The outermost track on the dial is for the date indication. A large pusher allows setting the home zone and a small corrector the date.
This very large 45mm watch has all the traditional De Bethune design features, a full, voluptuous, partially guillochéed dial in champagne and silver and beautifully polished movement bridges.
The Dream Watch 5 Meteorite is a unique piece with the case machined from metal coming from a meteorite, as the name says. This very hard and non-homogenious metal was a nightmare to machine causing a pile of broke milling tools, but the result is very attractive. The combination of the inhomogenious material, blued as possible in De Bethune tradition, with the other worldly form of the Dream Watch 5 is very convincing. In addition this Dream Watch is a tourbillon, which can be seen in a small porthole on the case back.
I love De Bethune,
