I saw the latest Red Dial Chopard Mille Miglia Gran Turismo XL Chrono Rosso Corsa in Chopard Boutique today. After a detail examination of the watch, apart from the brilliant red dial with white hands, and in titanium, it is no different to regular XL Chrono. Tempted to take out my wallet and buy it knowing that this watch is available in boutique only. Then I noticed on the crystal case back - One of Thousand, imprinted under the word Rosso Corsa in red. Unlike my Chopard Jacky Ickx IV which is clearly stamped on the case xxx/1000. I gave the watch back to the boutique manager.
To me, as a collector, I would prefer to buy any limited edition watch with the watch number stamped on the case, rather than "hey, I have one of one thousand watches". It just doesn't make sense. Is this watch 001 or 999? Just keen to hear what other Chopard owners would have to say regarding to this kind of "Limited Edition" labelling.
