I'm also wondering how to find out which straps are available for various Patek models / strap sizes. This, for example, has a unique looking pattern which I'd like to purchase. But I would assume it's simply black croc or alligator?...  

croc indeed use the back of the croc and you get the hronback straps, the belly is for straps with that typical rectangular patern and the more round patern (in the strpa above) is from the left and right side
