Patek Philippe

I am not  knowledgeable on vintage watches, but I am searching for a vintage Calatrava as a gift.  

I found a model 3425 in great condition and it is supposedly waterproof, but i have not been able to find another like it... which makes me wonder if it is truly waterproof? Did Patek ever produce this model as a waterproof watch? Also, it has no markings on the caseback, at least on the exterior. The owner does not have original paperwork, so I do not know the year of the watch. Any ideas?
