Girard Perregaux

Back again! And pictures of two Vintage45

G'day,

back home again.
Having no internet access for more than a couple of hours is a really new experience - and hopefully will be avoided in the future

Ok, besides some boring holiday shots i managed to park "she who must be obeyed" in a shoe store (an expensive lesson for me...) and made it to one of my favourite GP dealers.
A little disappointing surprise was to see only few GP?s in stock. Asked for the reasons, he pointed out Girard-Perregaux has become much more sought after over the last year.
As an example, he told me every of the about 6 or 8 Sea Hawks II was sold in only few days. The same for the Classique Elegance and the Vintage45 chronographs.
Therefore, only few watches were at hand.

Nonetheless (and because i had to bring pictures ), here?s a Vintage45 ref. 2593 one does not come across very often. The dial is an unusual brown-green colour with inner guilloche patterns and yellow hands, while the case is steel. As i?m quite a "purist" and do not love white cases with gold hands or brown dials, it took me a couple of minutes to decide if i like this combination. Finally, i have to say it?s quite interesting to look at and i like it because it?s not as sporty as a black dial and not as "classic" formal as the silver dial.

As there was a Vintage45 ref. 2583 at hand, i took the chance to do a comparison shot.

The 2593 is 29x28mm, the 2583 is 32x32mm. That?s not that much, but it?s really different (especially on the wrist).
My preference is still the classic look, subdial at 6 and no date. But to each his own, the bigger case (which is about the same size as the Vintage45 chronograph) did not look bad on my tiny wrist and i imagine one can grow on the weigth and size very well.

Ok, here we go with the pictures. Please excuse the bad quality, they have been taken under unpromising conditions:

I?ll try to catch up with the recent threads and come back to the questions as soon as i have some (more) answers.

It?s always good to be home again, in real life and among this great community!

Thank you all for not burning down the place

Greetings from germany,

Peter
