Armin Strom at BaselWorld 2012
Continuing forward with their strategy to eventually sell watches with only in-house movements, sooner rather than later, Armin Strom used the last year to refine their movements, for their reliability, timekeeping and ease of production.
The Armin Strom lineup now has 3 main series, two of them using only their in-house movements:
- The "One Week" double barrel manual winding with 8 day autonomy and power reserve using the ARM09 movement.
- The "Manual" with 120hr autonomy and small seconds using the ARM11 movement.
- The "Regulator" using an in house module on an ETA base movement.
In these three model lines the watches are available in 4 different versions, Fire, Water, Air and Earth with different case metals and colors.
- The "Armin Racing" models use special versions of the in-house movements using materials from F1 cars as well as some models with ETA movements.
Along with these watches Armin Strom is also still selling sketetonised watches by Mr. Armin Strom himself. These watches will soon be no more as Mr. Strom, now well into his 70s, decided to start his well earned retirement last year.
I guess you have already noticed in the past that I really like these watches and Armin Strom's approach to watchmaking. These are some of the very few open face watches that I have seen that really work for my eyes. The skeletonised esthetic from Mr. Armin Strom's work underlies the esthetic of these watches too, even though they aren't skeletonised themselves. This esthetic accentuates the quality of the watchmaking, not hiding or overwhelming it.
I recommend a close look.
