There are many ways to hold the strap between the lugs, but either sprung bars or screw pins are the most common.
My question to you is, what is your opinion on how secure are the sprung bars.
Fragile sprung bar is the only thing that prevents our 5.000 EUR or 20.000 EUR or even 50.000 EUR watch to jump from our wrists and kiss the hard floor. Some time ago I read in one of the forums (was it this one ?) of the gentleman who’s Patek Philippe fall from his hand because of the failure in sprung bar. What is your experience with sprung bars ?
I am using watches with sprung bars for decades without a problem, but in the past watches were light, thin and small things and lived mostly under sleeves (and they were cheaper too). Today’s watches are heavy hockey pucks and some of them are indeed using screw pins but those I particularly like (MJLC Compressor and Compressor Diving, Breguet XX) depends on sprung bars.
