And now something completely different.... watch websites
Dear enthusiasts and fans,
first of all, this is not a poll or a survey; it?s just that i?m personally curious to hear your opinions and comments.
Today i?d like to come back to a (very) recent discussion, which brought up some interesting (imho) points: a recent thread on our WatchRap forum.
Some (randomly choosen) statements:
- "The web is essentially a medium for communicating information. However, most watch companies don't want to communicate information, but instead want to communicate touchy-feely marketing stuff such as the company "image" and its marketing messages."
- "These sites are not supposed to be referred to every day, they are like a three minute advertisement in the middle of a TV program."
- "My advice in general would be that first and foremost is not to be dominated by Web designer and allow them to misdirect and take over with their meaningless self-indulgent new gimmicks and annoying Java scripts and with graphics that are slow to load even on the best and latest computers. With all due respect to web designers, with few exceptions these web designers know nothing about watches and the needs of people who loved them and collect them."
Why coming back to the WatchRap discussion of manufacturer?s websites?
Of course there?s some relation to our beloved brands; if you follow GP?s website frequently, you may have noticed a few changes here and there.
But the main reason is the official JeanRichard website at www.JeanRichard.com:
As you see, there?s a pretty empty space because it?s not "opened" yet.
Being kind of an "internet junkie", i?m quite curious how it will look and feel. At a later point, i?ll share some ideas i kicked around when i came across the site. But for now, i hope it?s going to be some fun to make yourself heard and add your comments about what
you would like to see.
So let?s hear what you would prefer to see and how a perfect website should look or "feel" like. Would you emphasize on implementing pictures? Or general information? Is there any special feature you would love to see? Or one you?d dislike?
I?m really curious to hear your thoughts!
Greetings from germany,
Peter
