A few pics around the Lange 31 days

Lange published today these nice pics.

I'm not a fan of the 31 days: too big, too bulky, a feeling of unbalanced dial due to the presence of the huge mainsprings and the need to use a key to wind the watch.

But I respect it a lot for what it brought.

The Lange 31 days allowed to the watchmaking team to work on constant force and to control huge power coming from the mainspring.

It was very useful to further develop the Zeitwerk.

If the crown was active, you would need to turn the corwn more than 500 times to fully wind the watch:

The two huge mainsprings (1,85m each, five to ten times larger than the usual ones). Do you know that when Lange ordered them to the provider, they explained that they would be used for a table clock to hide the project of a large power reserve watch?

You feel the power when you look at this insight of the movement:

The care of details from the dial designer:

I like this sketch:

Development of the dial:

And of course... the watch!

Now I publish two more pics I took several years ago:

On my wrist:

And the very unusual movement with the key hole:

Thanks to Lange for having published these pics of a rarely seen watch.
