Jaeger-LeCoultre

A BIG trip .. and a Sunny confession

Well, some of you have hilariously also been on IGOTT-2 , what a great meeting, that has been: Here just some digestive memory shots, also maybe from a side of this city, you might not be completely aware:

1/ Las Vegas impressions - the 'other side'

Virtual Venezia .. Pretty strange and amazing likewise

Well known to some

Many of us will still remember those older vistas, of the 'City of Sins':

Some early temples of 'sin'

Others try it this way - Wedding anyone or back to School ?..

An Art Deco marvel

Great ornamental Art Deco .. An unusual sight for Vegas

Another beauty .. Will be a museum - well, for CRIME !

SO : there are places from an earlier past, quite amazing - go & see yourself above - don't you think ?

The High School:

Great Art deco architecture, nice proportions, lovely restored !

( this in a city where most is torn down to make room for new)

Then a further building under reconstruction, which had a remarkable past: initially a government building, then home of a court ( one famous mobster trial there), now being adapted into a museum - for Crime).

But the ornamented walls, partially with corrugated iron - timeless, IMO

Well, and some are still are taking their chances in other ways:

Finally, a very cool place: Pretty tecno, but again -- really coool.. The Cosmopolitan Hotel - a changing tecno installation with screens, colors, screens and glass ..

Goodbye with cool & lights .. Pretty nifty The Cosmopolitan Hotel

2/ Following all that, THEN : The second destination, the West Coast, CA - LA is always a great place to be:

What a change .. Sunny Calfornia sunset .. Any surprises ? - great variety, pleasantly sunny and also many spots to go,

Some of them somewhat dangerous, and tempting in a way :

First: a great neighbourhood, Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills & Rodeo drive.. Welcome big spenders..

The place to be ?

smile">
Hmmm.. Looks familiar ! smile

Second: may look small, but inside .. Hmmm .

- so looking at some temptations for my wife - ( ehh,.. always one Xmas ahead);

I can tell you, so great service there, from Jim & Seth - thank you both !

Something for any lady, likely

A quite attractive verso side .. Dark, mysterious and - sparkling

Two nice nieces .. On a cushion ( not a wrist !)

Back in our relaxing stay at a house of good friends, away from any freeway and with a great view to the ocean,

with a beautiful breeze here a little surprise waiting for me, actually a present :

- had been considering and also persuing this already for some time,

( actually one of my misses last year, which I had to let go,

because of other priorities - but there always new targets, aren't there ?)

- Hence, this is presented to me, how nice ; I sure have been fond of this so versatile, yet appealing piece,

Also with a masculine charme, great functionality and indications, yet enough touch of elegance ,IMO:

Here she is, my Reverso Grande GMT, ss - Liking at first sight - Why ? - pls see below

Here she is .. No lemon for sure : Reverso Grande GMT

[First: - Was not sure, whether I should dwell on that, as there have been extensive posts,

I guess in 2009, about it; since this was some time back, I decided to leave it in.

- Hope you are not bored, if yes - just simply read on below.. well and for kind watching .. Very below

She is a great companion for travelling, a tad bigger case ( 46 x xx) , but very good feeling on the wrist.

I really like the bit heavier feeling. - Something is there, is with me..

The biggest asset of this piece for me - So nice functionality ( Grand date, subsecond, jour et nuit on white Home dial, and an absolutely fine Verso dial with Local time, Power Reserve, fhe specific GMT function operated by pushbuttons, and again 24 hr- day and night lower right.).

- This GMT function is a special treat, you set it once only with a little pusher, below on the case, thus syncing your home time with the differential GMT indicator on the verso side @7,

And - voilá, never worry gain ( as long as you use it that way: White dial with date=Home, and black with PR and GMT=Local; on a longer trip you may want to reverse, then just re- sync with the pusher, and make the local time your 'new' home) :

- During regular use: on your destination, just simply use the 2 pushers on the side, to -/Ouest or +/Est of the hours between ( the GMT differential)

- Still , and defintely not to forget: this beautifully done home face with white silver dial, with lovely guillache, and one of my favourites always, the blued hands..

The subsecond is nice and playful, as well, so is the day/ night indication with the little gold sun- rays or the tiny stars on dark sky ( I like this version better, than just black rays and dark for night) Enough description, for now

Second, no lastly - here some relaxed pictures:]

- so here , for this time in my realm, just some summerly shots, in appropriate surroundings:

A lemon ? - for sure not, great contrast and legibility - green and yellow, and the mid- brown strap - refreshing !

Another lazy environment :

Southern Cal is known for its palms, big and little:

Oh yes, pleasant and smart companions there also: Which brings me to the obvious wrist shot, in a maritime surrounding, with beautiful colors. ( I will spare you the last part of my trip, for the moment, have still to work on my stuff first)

BUT, as a brief resumé: A big trip, from the crazy, (with great company there), to sunshine country with a lovely new JLC time- traveller, now to stay with me - what a generous development. A wonderful 'melange' of the iconic Reverso ( how appropriate, in this anniversary year) with great functionality

of a tool profile watch, but - well, charmingly useful..

Someone , a while ago someone ( don't know whom to credit) has said it best, IMO: " The best bang for the buck"..

- I will be looking forward to a next trip with you, my dear new lady - leading us soon in many a nice destination ..

-- Thank you for bearing with me so far : Hope you liked a bit my little report,

Sometimes, trips really work out the way, you have mapped them out.

- How did Nico put it recently: " Never come back from a trip with empty hands.."

Pretty applicable, don't you think ?

Best, hs

PS: - Apologies for some of the formatting, was struggling and unfortunately had to somehow surrender:

So HERE the remainder of the pictures, including a WS.. -
