3919 vs. 5115

I have been reviewing the past posts here and have learned much about these two models and their 215PS movement. (In one I saw a reference to a 35mm case diameter for the 5115. Is that correct? Can someone tell me the thickness?)

I gather then, that the 5115 is a bit larger than the 3919 and has somewhat more modern-looking hands and lugs, along with stem guards. Thus, a little more case alloy would be required for the 5115. The major difference seems to be the enamel dial. The 5115 is almost $3,000 more expensive than the 3919. Is it fair to say, then, that most of that cost increase is due to the enamel dial?

I guess I'm wrestling with value issues here. I can afford either, but I hate to let money go on poor values.

An elegant in-house movement matters to me more than an exhibition back, so I'm not particularly driven to the 5120 simply for the view. A thoroughly refined PP with an enamel dial for $12,200. seems very desirable to me, but I am new to this whole world. My personal preference for the hand and lug styling tends toward the 3919 but is not so influential to me as the special dial, PROVIDED that the enamel dial is a fair value.

Thanks for your comments.
